Being in the education sector for the last 23 years and working professionally for the last 17 years I have worked with leaders, luckily!
What can a leader do with the team members?
A leader has ample of qualities and opportunities to lead and have a successful team to run the works smoothly. Nevertheless, if anyone falls under a person who is more like a boss then that person needs a stroke of good luck. Now, I am working as an educator and a leader. In my leadership phase for the last 2 years, I have realized so many important points that I have inherited from my previous leaders and applied some new ones.
I never stop learning and it takes me to the core of my leadership work. I feel like we all share responsibilities to build the future generation who will be empathetic. Now Empathy, really an important word and action to be the best version of yourself. If you feel like you are a boss and you need to control your team members -- you are walking in the wrong direction. There is a fine line between being firm and rude... but unfortunately, many people do not understand that yet. If you coach the members of the team and help them to understand you then you do not need to worry about how the team members are working. They will be working with great enthusiasm which is fostered by the leader. A great leader searches for the strengths of the members of the team and helps to shape them. Working collaboratively and providing the agency is the key to having a good rapport with the team. Many great leaders might say that oh... these are the stuffs we already know. But my question is how many of us truly believe and work like a leader... not a boss!!!
In the end... I had the experience of working with a boss in my small career ... and that gave me the life lesson to be a leader, not a boss!
