At present day, learning in a group is really obliging for the learner. I am working a primary program teacher and when I set any task in group I can observe many positive sides of learning in a group.
If we talk about the benefits of learning in a group, here I mentioned my views.
1) Learners develop collaboration:
By learning in a group learners can develop collaboration with peers. From the very early age if children learns to develop their collaboration skills, it will be a great help in future. They can understand different perspectives of people and can respect the points of views. Children also learn to share their thoughts and ideas more freely with their peers. They feel confident and comfortable which help them to learn better.
2) Learners develop open-mindedness:
When learners work in a group they get to know different points of view from different people. They can understand and take the opinions in a positive way. It will make them to accept others points of view positively and they will grow as a open minded person.
3) Learners are able to learn new ideas:
There are different types of learners in a group. Some are creative in making presentation or present in a creative way. Some are good in content making. So, when learning in a group learners are able to learn new things from others. For example: one of my colleague is creative in making and presenting while I am good at planning and developing contents. So, I learn a lot on how I can present more creative from that person. By the way.. its a real life example!!
4) Learners develop the social skills: Learners develop social skills by working in group. There are some people who are introvert and cant feel comfortable talking with people. They can actually grow positive views and can feel confident working and learning in a group. The group remember can help any other member to feel easy and caring attitude grows from there.
5) Develop speaking and presenting skills:
While working in a group learners are learning different skills. They can develop their speaking skills as well as presentation skills from the other group members. It will help them for the lifelong and hey will be growing as a lifelong learners.
