Being an educator and leader, I believe reflection is essential for all of us. As the learners reflect on their learning, we should reflect on how we are providing the guidelines to them for learning.

There are many ways we can encourage the students to reflect.. When I was going through the book of Trevor Mackenzie I found it extremely helpful. Here are the questions which were guided in the book. I have already stared using some of them..

  • What was something you heard that was compelling?

  • How can you summarize what your groupmates have said?

  • How is what you’re hearing different from your thinking? How is what you’re hearing the same?

  • Is there a way you feel you can help make your group’s chat stronger? How?

  • If you had to order the group’s chat from “mic drop ideas” to “meh ideas,” what would this order be?

  • Why would you order it as such?

  • How can you summarize your “mic drops” to another group? Why have you declared it a “mic drop

  • idea”?

  • What resonated with you most from what your group-mates shared?

  • How is your thinking different now that you’ve heard everyone in your group share?

  • What are your next steps in your learning? How can you move on from here to deepen your

  • understanding and move forward?

  • If you could go and ask another group a question, what would you ask? Why would you ask them this?
